Kirishima Open Air Art Museum

A short film about the Kirishima Open-Air Art Museum in Kagoshima, Japan. The museum is situated at an altitude of 700 metres within Kirishima-Yaku National Park, surrounded by dense forest, volcanic landscapes and constant mist. Spread across 13 hectares, 22 sculptures are scattered throughout the forest – mainly commissioned works by artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Anthony Gormley, Yoko Ono, Tang Da Wu and Shuichi Fukumoto. Here, art meets nature, not the other way round.

Practical information:

Opening hours: 9am–5pm (until 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays in summer)
Admission: ¥320 for adults
How to get there: 20 mins from Kurino IC or by bus from JR Kurino
